Culture of the Walser

Then as now

The communities of Warth and Schröcken as well as the entire Tannberg area are shaped by the rich tradition of Walser culture. Time-honoured monuments, stately Walser homelands and the cherished customs, especially the still lively language "s'Walserdütsch", bear witness to the settlement by the Walser from the canton of Valais in Switzerland.

The Walser of Warth

Living Tradition

Walser culture is mainly lived in the local clubs: the traditional costume associations, the Schröcken music club and the alphorn group "Wartherhorn" cultivate the togetherness of old and young, which is passed on from generation to generation. Numerous exhibitions and book publications make Walser culture tangible and lively, and offer a vivid experience for visitors.
