From the spring to the falls

The Lechweg

The Lechweg is a moderately difficult long-distance hiking trail and leads through our Alpine region, which is also one of the last wild river landscapes in Europe. An untamed Lech, people shaped by the landscape and fabulous stories are waiting for you!

Crossing borders

Over a good 125 kilometres, the Lechweg connects five regions and two countries: It leads through the Vorarlberg Arlberg region and the Tyrolean nature park region of Lechtal and Reutte in Austria as well as the southern Allgäu in Germany. The Lech rises near Lake Formarin in Vorarlberg and makes its way through beautiful landscapes to the Lech Falls in Füssen in the Allgäu.

Along the way, you will pass one of the largest ibex colonies in Europe, a waterfall that dries up and springs up again every year as if by magic, and the longest pedestrian bridge in Austria, which is accessible free of charge. And at the end of the path, the Bavarian royal castles await!

The turquoise blue and crystal-clear waters of the Lech, the polished rock slabs and the small wooden bridges offer a real feast for the eyes and make the Lechweg an unforgettable experience.
